Eligibility Criteria - Who Can Apply for SC Scholarship Assam 2026?
- Permanent Resident: Must be permanent resident of Assam (PRC/Domicile required).
- Category: Must belong to Scheduled Caste (SC) community. Caste must be listed in Assam SC list (16 castes notified in Assam - Namasudra, Kaibartta, Muchi, Hira, Jhalo Malo etc).
- Studying: Must be studying in recognized School/College/University/Institute in India. Institute must be registered on NSP portal.
- Income Limit: Family income from all sources must be less than Rs 2.5 Lakh per year (For both Pre & Post Matric). Income certificate issued by Circle Officer required.
- Academic: Must have passed previous class. Minimum 75% attendance in current year.
- Other Condition: Must have valid SC Caste Certificate issued by Competent Authority (DC/SDO) of Assam. Must have Aadhaar linked bank account in own name. Not getting any other central/state scholarship of same level (Can apply for only one).
- Course Condition: For Post-Matric, student must not be more than 2nd failure in same course. Only 2 boys from same family allowed (No limit for girls).

How to Apply Online for SC Scholarship Assam 2026 @ scholarships.gov.in
- Visit Official Portal: Go to scholarships.gov.in (National Scholarship Portal - NSP)
- New Registration: Click on "New Registration" -> Read guidelines -> Select "Assam" State -> Enter Aadhaar Number, Name as per Aadhaar, DOB, Mobile, Email. Verify OTP. You will get Application ID.
- Login: Login with Application ID and Password. Change password first time.
- Select Scheme: Dashboard -> Click "Application Form" -> Select State: Assam -> Select Category: SC -> Select Scheme: Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC Students or Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students as per your class.
- Fill Form: Fill personal details, academic details, income details, bank details (Enter IFSC correctly), upload documents (Size less than 200KB PDF/JPG).
- Final Submit: Preview form -> Final Submit -> Take printout of application form.
- Institute Verification: Submit printed application with documents to your School/College Scholarship Nodal Officer for verification on NSP portal. Institute will verify online.
- District & State Verification: After institute, District Welfare Officer and State Nodal Officer will verify. Then amount will be credited via PFMS DBT.
